DON BOSCO MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL IN THANJAVUR

It was founded in 1983 and was recognized under the code of regulations for Matriculation Schools, Tamil Nadu vide D.Dis.No.1901/17/E3/83 dated 4th April 1984 of the Director of School Education, Chennai 600 006.  It is a Catholic minority institution.  It was upgraded as Higher Secondary School in July 1983. It is run by the South Indian Salesian Society.

MILE STONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Don Bosco Matriculation School is an educational institution providing scholastic  education. The school is under the administration of the Salesian Province of Tiruchirapalli.

1983  – High School was established conducting Classes for VI, VII, VIII & IX
1985  – High School was affiliated to the Matriculation System of Tamil Nadu. The first batch of Std.X students appeared for Matriculation.
1985  – Primary School was established conducting classes for I & II Std.
1987  – School continued to grow in structure and new block was built.
1993  – Upgraded as Higher Secondary with three groups.

  1. Maths, Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
  2. Maths, Physics, Chemistry & Computer Sci.
  3. Commerce, Accountancy, Economics, Comp.Appln.

1995  – The first batch of XII standard  students  appeared for the Hr. Sec. Examination.

2001  – Kindergarten [KG] was started in the newly established building ‘Dominic Savio Block’

2002  – St. Joseph Block was constructed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Labs, Library and Audio Visual Hall.

2003 – The Elementary and the Higher Secondary Sections were amalgamated into one school by the directions given by the Director of Government Examinations.

2006 – Centenary year for the institution. Auditorium and School entrance Arch were built. It was blessed and opened by Our Rector Major Rev.Fr.Pascual Chavez during the centenary celebration.            

2019  – A separate section for Girls was started in the Higher  Secondary from VI Standard onwards.

Don Bosco, Thanjavur caters to 1800 students and has a team of 61 teaching staff and 20 non-teaching staff.
